The Pink Agenda to Receive BCRF’s Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award

By BCRF | October 15, 2024

The Foundation will honor the organization for its commitment to raising awareness of the disease among young professionals and for supporting lifesaving research

BCRF is thrilled to recognize the Pink Agenda (TPA) with the Foundation’s Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award for its extraordinary philanthropy and unwavering support of our mission. TPA will be honored at BCRF’s annual Symposium and Awards Luncheon on October 25.

TPA is a national organization dedicated to raising lifesaving funds for breast cancer research and care while fostering awareness of the disease among young professionals—a mission that’s more relevant than ever as more women under 50 are being diagnosed with breast cancer.

“The Pink Agenda is honored to receive the Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award–an award that recognizes a passion for philanthropy and a dedication to the work of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation,” said TPA President Nicole Seagriff. “As a group of young professionals who are on a mission to raise money, raise awareness, and raise a little hell in the process, all in support of breast cancer research and care, we are humbled to be recognized with such a meaningful award.”

TPA was born out of a party co-founder Marisa Renee Lee hosted to raise money for research in honor of her mother, who was living with metastatic breast cancer. With co-founders Liana M. Douillet Guzmán and Jaquelyn M. Scharnick, the three women launched TPA in 2017.

Since then, TPA has raised over $9.75 million for breast cancer research and care, and in 2012, entered into a strategic partnership with BCRF to fund breast cancer research projects led by the brightest minds in science. Since 2014, the organization has also partnered with breast cancer survivor and E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic to support her FAB-U-WISH initiative, and together have granted wishes to 450 women with breast cancer.

Dr. Neil Iyengar, a BCRF investigator whose work is supported by TPA, will present the award to TPA Board of Directors President Nicole Seagriff, a two-time breast cancer thriver, and Board Member Amanda Quick, who is living with metastatic breast cancer.

TPA’s remarkable contributions underscore its deep commitment to advancing research and improving outcomes for breast cancer patients. In BCRF’s recent Research is the Reason campaign, Amanda highlighted the vital role research plays for women like her.

“Research is the reason we’re seeing extended life for women who have later-stage diagnoses. It’s the reason that we’re detecting breast cancer earlier. It’s the reason that there are a lot of women like me who are alive and thriving today,” she said.

As they receive the Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award later this month, TPA stands as a beacon of inspiration. Their commitment emphasizes the importance of engaging all generations to drive meaningful change and proves we can all make a difference together.

“We are acutely aware that this award is in memory of someone who lost their life to breast cancer.  This is something we, as a young professional board, understand all too well having lost two of our beloved board members this summer to metastatic breast cancer-both of whom were under the age of 40, said Nicole. “We find inspiration from the lives they lived to be even more motivated to engage today’s generation to find tomorrow’s cure, and receiving this award is a bright spot after a challenging summer.”
