Our mission could not be more urgent. Globally, breast cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer deaths in women. In the U.S., one in eight women and one in 833 men will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetimes. Unfortunately, every gamer likely knows someone who has already been impacted—or will be diagnosed in the future.
We are calling on all streamers, creators, gamers, brands, and more to unite around research this October with “Paint Gaming Pink!” because only research will save lives, improve outcomes, and end breast cancer.
“I know what it feels like to hear those words, ‘You have breast cancer,’” said Twitch Affiliate and breast cancer survivor LilaBoBina, who will fundraise this October. “I’m working with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to raise as much funds as possible for safer treatment and to give women the hope that they desperately need.”
BCRF is thrilled that numerous creators, brands, and organizations have already committed to fundraising for research in their own unique and creative ways. Below, learn how you can “Paint Gaming Pink!” by hosting a charity stream, supporting our partners and creators, watching tournaments, and more.
Major brands, esports organizations, and creator collectives are going above and beyond to help fundraise for research. Our partners this year include returning supporters DarkZero, Panda Global, and HyperX, and several new ones.
Panda Global, a BCRF partner since 2021, will continue to fund research by hosting an Adorama Charity Cup and releasing a new collection of limited-edition Hold Forward apparel and accessories with 25 percent of purchase prices donated to BCRF. To date, Panda Global has raised more than $120,000 for research.
“BCRF has been an amazing partner in the esports space and during the pandemic last year we had an incredible activation with them through online gaming,” Panda Global CEO Alan Bunney said. “This year, we’re hoping to engage our audience offline and take some of the energy we saw last year in a new setting.”
Not only is esports team DarkZero hosting a charity tournament during October, but they will release a new edition of their #GoingPink merchandise with 45 percent of the purchase price of select products donated to BCRF. A partner since 2021, DarkZero has committed a $10,000 minimum donation to BCRF.
Esports team Luminosity will release a custom jersey with 10 percent of the purchase price donated to BCRF for a minimum gift of $10,000.
Chess.com, the #1 online chess site, will join Paint Gaming Pink! by supporting BCRF fundraising campaigns from leading chess content creators.
“Chess is about strategy and solving hard problems, and the global Chess.com family is touched by the amazing work that BCRF does to tackle breast cancer research from so many angles,” Chess.com Chief Strategy Officer Grant Lee said. “We’re really excited about supporting these great chess content creators in sharing our appreciation for BCRF.”
VTuber talent agency, VShojo, is partnering with BCRF for the first time this year, as well. Creators Ironmouse, Nyanners, Projekt Melody, Silvervale, and others will fundraise. VShojo will also unveil a special initiative for BCRF soon.
On October 14, Twitch community battle game Stream Raiders will release a custom skin for the game that benefits BCRF. Through October 31, 2023, Stream Raiders will donate the entire $10 purchase price to BCRF.
Join creators and VtTubers like Silvervale, MushuDynasty, and GeorgiaPower in hosting a charity stream for BCRF. Whether you’re top of the Street Fighter leaderboard or you’re decorating your perfect island in Animal Crossing, you and your community can make a meaningful difference for people with breast cancer this October.
To start your charity stream, register to fundraise through BCRF’s StreamLabs Charity or Tiltify event pages and find resources—talking points, overlays, and more—for your stream here.
