BCRF hosts 12th annual event for research

BCRF returned in person for its 12th annual Boston Hot Pink Luncheon & Symposium at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Supporters joined to hear directly from esteemed breast cancer experts, and the event raised more than $330,000 to fund New England–based scientific investigators. This year, BCRF is awarding more than $8 million in grants to 44 scientists based in New England for a cumulative total of over $116 million invested in the region.

Abby Pastyrnak, managing director at pediatric cancer charity One Mission, shared her experience living with metastatic breast cancer in conversation with BCRF Advisory Board Member Kelley Tuthill.

During the program Tuthill commended the audience for their commitment to breast cancer research. She shared: “Thanks to you, BCRF hasn’t missed a beat during the pandemic. They proudly remain the largest private funder of breast cancer research—and metastatic research—in the world, and the highest rated breast cancer research organization in the U.S.”

The Symposium, “Research Progress Across the Continuum: From Prevention to Metastasis,” opened with remarks from BCRF President and CEO Myra J. Biblowit, and was moderated by Dr. Ann Partridge of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The expert panel of BCRF-funded investigators also featured Dr. Priscilla Brastianos of Massachusetts General Hospital; Dr. Temidayo Fadelu of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; and Dr. Walter Willett of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Honorary chairs included First Lady Lauren Baker, Nancy Kelleher, and Kelley Tuthill. Event co-chairs included Stephanie Andrews, Andrea Brooks, Kelley Doyle, Karen Hale, Elena Matlack, Liz Kelleher Sells, Katherine Chapman Stemberg, and Simone Winston. Vice chairs included Elizabeth Healey, Karen Johnson, Hope Krakoff, Dr. Tania Lingos-Webb, and Jacqueline S. Shoback.

The Luncheon was generously supported by these Hot Pink Sponsors: Andrea Brooks, Karen and Rob Hale, Judy and Leonard Lauder, and Traders4ACause, plus the following Benefactors: the Kelleher Family, Roberta and Joseph Menzin, Denise and Jeff St. Mary, Donna and Jim Stearns, and Katherine Chapman Stemberg.
