Starting today, Street Fighter’s two most iconic characters, Chun-Li and Ryu, will be able to sport special limited-edition pink costumes that fund breast cancer research through BCRF.
For its first-ever nonprofit partnership, video game publisher Capcom created these exclusive costumes in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Capcom will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from purchases of the costumes to BCRF with a guaranteed minimum donation of $25,000, which would fund 500 hours of research. Capcom will announce the total donation after the campaign ends November 13.
Chun-Li and Ryu’s pink costumes are streetwear- and techwear-inspired and feature a mix of light and dark pinks, purple, and black. In another nod to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Chun-Li also wears pink ribbons in her hair.
To further promote its partnership with BCRF and raise funds for research, Capcom is engaging the fighting game community (FGC) in streams and esports tournaments on Twitch, fundraising on Tiltify, and partnering with popular influencers and streamers. From October 17-23, Twitch will also feature Street Fighter V streams promoting the partnership on its front page as well.
