BCRF and its longtime corporate partner, Ulta Beauty, came together on October 1 to ring in the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by ringing the closing bell at Nasdaq in New York’s Times Square.
Together, members of the BCRF and Ulta Beauty staff and community used the moment to celebrate progress and call attention to research this October.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a meaningful time that unites people across the globe. It’s a time to reflect on our remarkable progress to eradicate breast cancer, and more importantly, it’s a time to reignite our commitment for the work that still lies ahead,” BCRF’s CEO Donna McKay said in remarks at the event, which was livestreamed on Nasdaq.com and promoted on Nasdaq Tower and Marquee.
“We are thrilled to mark this occasion with our incredible partner, Ulta Beauty, [who symbolizes] the drive and momentum behind the breakthroughs that are transforming lives every day.”
Since 2009, Ulta Beauty has raised more than $55 million for BCRF, supporting one million hours of lifesaving breast cancer research. This year, through the Ulta Beauty Funds in support of BCRF’s early-career research support program and breast cancer survivorship, Ulta Beauty is fueling research and innovation in several critical areas of study: closing the mortality gap between Black and white women, supporting early-career researchers from diverse backgrounds, and improving patients’ lives during and after treatment.
“These numbers represent more than dollars. They represent lives saved, families strengthened, and futures now filled with hope,” McKay said. “Every contribution has gone directly towards research making an impact felt all over the world.”
“Through our partnership with BCRF, Ulta Beauty and the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation are committed to using the power of beauty as a force for good and to empowering well-being for women impacted by breast cancer,” said Jessica Fiscella, Director of Community Relations for Ulta Beauty. “With women representing more than 91 percent of our associates and the majority of our guests, we are proud to fund research programs that improve outcomes for all women diagnosed with breast cancer and to fuel the future of breast cancer research by backing young talent from underrepresented backgrounds.”
To support this exciting event and Ulta Beauty’s 15th year supporting research, Ulta Beauty hosted an event at its Herald Square location, inviting guests to receive complimentary pink hair tinsel and encouraging them to donate to BCRF at checkout.
Through November 2, Ulta Beauty will continue to advance research through its in-store donation program and will also offer select BCRF-benefitting salon services, including pink stone ear piercing in addition to pink hair tinsel, at participating locations around the country.
